We are deeply shocked and saddened by the loss of the 39 people, who perished in the tragic incident in Essex.
On behalf of the Chinese Information and Advice Centre, the Board of Trustees, Staff, and Volunteers express our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families affected in these extremely difficult times.
We ask the government to do all it can to ensure a tragedy like this must never happen again. After the tragic incident in Dover with 58 Chinese lives perished almost 2 decades ago; there have been several other similar tragedies over the years.
We urge the government to come down hard on the perpetrators & kingpins of these types of criminalities which include all other forms of human smuggling trafficking & slavery – and bring them to justice.
