Chinese New Year Celebration @ Downing Street

The Chinese Information and Advice Centre was invited by Downing Street to organise the Prime Minister’s Chinese New Year Reception Community Day on 31 January 2019 at No.10 Downing Street.

The guests were joined by 60 children from London, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Liverpool and Brighton.

The Prime Minister was keen to be shown the Chinese culture including the paper cutting, calligraphy and Chinese lanterns making.

We are thrilled and excited about introducing Lion Dance for the first time to No.10 Downing Street.

Lion dance signifies the welcoming of the New Year of the Pig which promises a year of plentiful, abundance and prosperities.

The amazing event would not be possible without the support of the Chinese community in the UK. Special thanks to the President of the UK Zhejiang Association Ms Ping Huang and the Chairman of the London Chinatown Chinese Association Mr CT Tang OBE.
