Mr Edmond Yeo JP sits on the Race Equality Commission

The Chairman of the Chinese Information and Advice Centre (CIAC), Mr Edmond Yeo JP now sits on the Race Equality Commission for London Borough of Ealing. This Commission is a 12-person Commission led by Lord Simon Woolley to recommend ways the Council can act to reduce inequality in Ealing.

Serving as an important accessible, inclusive platform for the Community, the Commissioners are seeking views on the experiences of inequality and what the impact of race inequality has been in Ealing. This is also a great way to share best practice and learn from the mistakes which is the way forward.

You can let us know your thoughts by writing to the commission at raceequalitycommission@ealing.gov.uk; by post to the Race Equality Commission, Perceval House, 14/16 Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 2HL; or call 0208 825 6100.

As a former Conservatives Councillor of the London Borough of Ealing (2006-2010), Edmond stated, “I am pleased to be a member of the Commission, to work with other like-minded professionals, community stakeholders towards the same goal. We are keen to know your thoughts and what you believe can be done to reduce inequality and I am proud to be part of this process.

It is an innovative way to reflect the diverse backgrounds including gender, race and age, presenting a clear route for the council to learn from and reflect upon the lived experiences of local people.”

Edmond further added, “London is a diverse, multicultural city. All the Local Councils should recognise and value the diversity of all people and communities in the boroughs. This involvement matters and relevant to the Communities like education, employment, crime and justice, health and housing and the Councils should commit in meeting the needs of all of our residents and our employees.”
